Frequently asked questions
What is Perendale Wool?
Perendale wool is a versatile, medium-range wool from hardy New Zealand sheep, known for its excellent balance of long, strong fibers (28-32 microns) with good crimp, offering significant loft, spring, and a pearly sheen. It's popular for its versatility, creating bouncy yarns that are great for textured sweaters, rugs, and felting, providing warmth and good stitch definition without being overly soft like finer wool.
What can I use this for?
Carded batts are thick, fluffy, and airy sheets of fibre, usually wool, that have been processed through a drum carder or large industrial carder to align fibers in multiple directions rather than a single parallel direction. They are widely used in fiber arts for needle felting, wet felting, and woollen spinning.
Where is your fibre sourced?
The majority of my fibres are British and are mainly produced here in Yorkshire. Merino comes from South America, where no mulesing takes place.
